Those "bones" in the museum aren't bones. They are replicas based on what they believe the whole skeleton looks like. They will find one tiny bone that seems to be more stone than bone and build a whole skeleton based on it. It's also believed that dinosaurs most likely had feathers and looked more like chickens rather than giant smooth skinned lizards. But who the fuck knows? They are all guessing.
there is SCIENCE behind it. They do not make up a species based on a single bone and it takes years of research. The bones are also cross-referenced and so on and so forth. The copies are exact copies and they are pretty expensive actually. Many of other archaeological artifacts displayed at museums are exact replicas, made using the same techniques and materials. The original ones are very fragile and need to be kept at very specific conditions, otherwise they'd cease to exist within days.
