She’s a teacher, a total liberal, and was telling our kids about the virtues of BLM and how all they want is equality. That set the seeds. Later that night she was telling me to unfriend some of her friends because they were texting her and asking what was wrong with me. I was posting myself in airsoft gear and making slightly pro trump/anti Biden comments as well as displaying my hatred for Antifa burning the fucking country down. We got into a huge fight over it. It’s bad. She obviously listens to npr and cnn and all the other msm outlets. Why can’t these people see it? I don’t get it?

Political stuff never came up before y'all got married? Gavin always says you have to ease them into it, start with open ended rhetorical stuff like "did you see what's on the news about the protests in portland? I guess some people are calling it a riot but it's hard to tell. i wonder, at what point does it stop being a protest and start being a riot? what do you think?" maybe not the greatest example but just present open ended questions and very gently point her in the direction of the truth without having blowout fights about it because that's just not productive.
I wasn’t untra political until the last couple of years. I was the get along with everyone guy. Although I always hated white liberals name thought they were full of shit. We didn’t get into “arguments” over it. Just a lot of eye rolling. I feel I have to stand against this shit now
It's a tough one man. I like Gavin's advice in most cases but when you're already married and she knows you're right-leaning it's more difficult. It used to be that Americans on both sides could agree on the facts but have different explanations for them. Now, we have one side arguing that 2+2 =/= 4 so it's a much different position to argue from.
She would kick my ass. Thing is, I’m from Ireland and living in the US. It’s my only lifeline to friends and family
Yeah but we all share pictures of our kids etc. I dunno. I have also met friends through my podcast across America
I hear you man . You make a good point. I’ve been wrestling mentally with this for a while now. I think my life would be better without it.
I guess part of me wants to “show” people what’s actually going on through links to media that point to the truth, black conservatives disavowing BLM. I am/was a journalist so I try to report the news gathered from independent media sources in a paragraph to explain what’s going on. No one had even heard about the old lady getting covered in paint. I linked it. No one knows that most black people do not want to defund the police. I guess I’m tying to change people’s minds who he their information from bias MSM
I feel you man, I feel like it's my duty to refute the bullshit (I mean the literal mainstream lies) that are on social media but it would take me every waking moment to do so and even then-- the vast majority of the time it falls on deaf ears anyways. I decided my time is better spent doing things in the real world to promote the West and the American way of life instead of arguing about it online.
