It's a tough one man. I like Gavin's advice in most cases but when you're already married and she knows you're right-leaning it's more difficult. It used to be that Americans on both sides could agree on the facts but have different explanations for them. Now, we have one side arguing that 2+2 =/= 4 so it's a much different position to argue from.
Political stuff never came up before y'all got married? Gavin always says you have to ease them into it, start with open ended rhetorical stuff like "did you see what's on the news about the protests in portland? I guess some people are calling it a riot but it's hard to tell. i wonder, at what point does it stop being a protest and start being a riot? what do you think?" maybe not the greatest example but just present open ended questions and very gently point her in the direction of the truth without having blowout fights about it because that's just not productive.
I feel you man, I feel like it's my duty to refute the bullshit (I mean the literal mainstream lies) that are on social media but it would take me every waking moment to do so and even then-- the vast majority of the time it falls on deaf ears anyways. I decided my time is better spent doing things in the real world to promote the West and the American way of life instead of arguing about it online.
Wait wait wait... to protest COVID? They're not protesting something specific like how Trump handled it, they're just protesting because they want COVID to go away? Apparently you need a hundred thousand dollar degree to understand that global pandemic = bad. Luckily this protest will shame COVID into going back to Wuhan and leave us the hell alone-- oh wait....
