I know this is late, but Gavin was talking about how southern leftists are probably more chill than northern ones and it definitely stuck in my craw because in the South, SJWs, leftist, BLM etc feel they have a REASON for their positions. They are more emboldened because various injustices have been more recent and lets say actual.

If they are natives or transplants they go out of their way NOT to be aligned with racism or religion. They are the type to abide by ALL talking points and rules, because not to do so would mean they are equivalent to Bull Conner. They quote Martin Luther King's statement "the suburbs are a “high-income white noose” around black inner cities." Ignoring the violence and mayhem within these cities, that blacks are fleeing. They stay in dangerous cities even after their loved ones are violently attacked making excuses for the system. They are particularly contemptful of religion and seak out nonreligous daycares and schools.

I live in Memphis and I feel abandoned by Tennessee. All of the cities in the south are no different than the cities in the north.

Southern leftists are justified they feel. In the city I lived in in the south the state university actually was found guilty of paying women less for the same positions in the 80s!! Do you know how hard that is to prove?!?! That case was one of the few if not the only successful lawsuit of its kind.

When I started my transition to "traditional liberal" or "not left." One thing that I kept thinking was that the right, republicans need to specifically address their past racism. Or at least specifically address it. Racism is the key. Black people in the south are never going to be republican unless this is done.

You are so not wrong. Ten years ago I took a Native American (injun) course in popular state university in the south. We were watching Dancing with Wolves, and during one of the scenes the professor was talking about how injuns were peaceful and America was the one to always be on the offensive. I brought up the many injun wars that occurred, the slavery, the attacks by red skins on peaceful settlements, and a card carrying native decided to argue with me, saying her people were peaceful. Long story short, I was able to show that native americans have in fact been violent and war like. The card carrying injun dropped the class, no idea why but I'm guessing due to that interaction. No one clapped at the interaction, and I'm sure I was a dick, but I couldn't let them pass off the victim mentality that white colonists are pure evil and natives are innocent and never hostile. And for you faggots out there getting pissy, I'm not white, so fuck you.

Heh, you had me until the last sentence. I see others have already corrected you in the comments, and your experience is obviously different than mine, but most of the racist southerners I know stayed southern Democrats until Obama. That was the real "party switch". A lot of non-racists were Democrats too because that's just what their family always was. The Republicans not "helping black people" was due to states rights issues and limiting federal government. Johnson's great society destroyed the black community.

I really don't know if I should edit my post or what is the best way to respond to everyone making this point. I realized when I wrote "republicans need to address their past racism" it was going to be an issue.

I'm here telling you guys, and you KNOW this, republicans = raycis and dems = not raycis to 90% of black people, so what do we do?

Like I mentioned in my circles of college educated, smart, kind creative funny people of all colors the idea of democrats being racist is absurd. If we are to question the "party switch" like myself it is confused and befuddling. I am telling you my personal experience trying to learn about it.

I really appreciate your comment about the real party switch. But I only have my grandparents to go by and for a large part of my life i believed them to be racist. I always saw them be kind to everyone. However, on my first day of middle school my grandfather gave me advice to "not hang out with the black kids because they didnt want to hang out with me and if i tried to hang out with them white kids wouldnt want to hang out with me." Now, in hindsight, this sounds like he is saying this from experience. However, to a kid in the early nineties who grew hung out with real-life urkels or 'blerds" and the only people she knew who liked NWA were white boys, this just didnt make sense.

I'm not communicating as best I could, but we have to acknowledge and address head on the issue of race , the "other side" has realized a large group of people can be easily manipulated and control ed on this topic for their own gains and we are just sitting around waiting for them to have time in their lives to find out who thomas sowell is, it isn't going to work.

I think in much of the urban south the liberals are kind of deluted by all the not-left folk. In most places, it keeps from chain-reacting to pure utter clown worldist BS. There are exceptions however. Also a somewhat similar kind of situation is the leftist narriative driven "black activism" which in most cases is just an excuse for yoots of all colors to run amuck, break and steal shit.

Although. Asheville is one of the most leftie cities I have ever been to in the south.

I appreciate your comment and perspective. I guess I feel the opposite. I feel like in the north you can get leftists that may "stray from the course" because they have the luxury to. But in the south, you have to be in lockstep otherwise as I mentioned you are the literal KKK. Here's an example in my experience black people in southern cities wear masks RELIGIOUSLY whereas from comments from people like Gavin, it seems in the north maybe they dont care as much. I feel like this may be because it is been made clear that Trump isnt a full-blown mask proponent so if you dont wear one you are a raycis.
I know this is just my experience, but honestly, I see young black teenage men, arguably some of the most testosterone-filled creates on the planet, walking to school OUTSIDE in masks! like the for real cover your nose and side of face masks, what?!?!

Why are southern cities always some of the most dangerous? Even though these cities are super religious? I think a large part is because there is a patronizing aspect that no criticism of black culture is allowed.

Urban areas tend to be more covid fearful and wealthy areas even more so. So if the poor black side of town is doing 25% mask wearing the wealthy (mostly annoying white peepoe) side of town will be 98% with 30% wearing 2 masks and gloves, 5% are in full bubble boy moonsuits and another 10% will not even be seen, they are sheltering in place somewhere having servents place their groceries in the garage.

Of those urban black yoots, a solid 50% of the 25% that do wear masks are doing so because they have warrants, owe someone money they are trying to avoid or are oppurtunistic criminals, looking for the next come up.

But honestly I see covid fear more on an economic and urban/rural scale than color.

First and foremost:

Wealth is directly proportional to fear of covid.

Secondly: Population density.

So lets place this in perspective..

Hipster area of town: decent mid to mid-high level wealth + high population density = covid hysteria

Gated community: High wealth + medium density = covid hysteria

General suburbia: Medium wealth + medium density = covid concern

Ghetto projects: no wealth + very high population denaity = Covid concern

Ghetto house neighborhood: low weath + medium density = covid maybe

Rural modular lots: low wealth + low density = covid? Whats that?

I think this is an accurate perspective.

princessalala [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

ok, so I think what you are saying is for the most part correct. but why do i see black people wearing masks in the park I take my kid too, when all the white people and i'd say 30% of black people arent wearing the mask?

2
RexCollins 2 points ago +2 / -0

Warrants lol

princessalala [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

Is this true?? I wish I could believe it was the answer. I saw a group of three teenage black girls walking down the street in a suburban area all wearing masks. Just dumfounds me.

the republicans dont address their past "racism" cause that past racism you're thinking of was actually democrats (Surprise!) KKK = dems, jim crow = dems, segregation = dems, the confederacy were democrats, and Abraham Lincoln and the union army were... REPUBLICANS... so really the answer is people need to learn the real history, and stop being lied to by the longest purveyors of racism and division in our countries history, democrats. I mean our current resident only eulogized a literal klan member, don't get to do that every day.

I knew someone was gunna say this. It may be the case but most people are not aware of this. I was raised by a bleeding heart Democrat, my grandparents had been Democrats, when I asked my college educated mom why my grandparents stopped being Democrats she said they stopped because the Democrats started helping black people. So I don’t agree with your argument.

1
Philosopher 1 point ago +1 / -0

Just because people are not aware and want to live in ignorance doesn't make it true, you are literally saying people have to apologize for something they didn't do just because people THINK they did it, that's called giving life to the LIE and we are not about that SORRY!

and democrats are helping them how exactly? by telling them they are to stupid to get ID that the scary racist republicans are out to get them when they aren't?, you know who lowered black unemployment to the lowest in american history pre covid? trump did, you know who did prison reform? trump did, you know trump had the highest minority turn out of any republican in history, I know you wont believe it cause your feelings but thats what the stats say!, but how could he do that! he's a racist republican omg! more lies from your divisive party of empty promises.

you do not agree with what? the FACTS and HISTORY, stop being emotional and embracing lies and anecdotal evidence from your granny instead of the history, and start living in reality, in democrat run cities black people are being told they are oppressed, and these cities are run by democrats for generations, so who is running the system oppressing them but refusing to do anything about it? DEMOCRATS GET POWER FROM YOU BELIEVING THESE LIES! is it not obvious?

(democrats aren't responsible for the horrific actions you blame on republicans cause muh grandma said they helped people) what kind of ignorant answer is that when presented with the truth?

what past racism are you talking about? can you be specific?

and what exactly have democrats done to HELP ANYONE!? BE SPECIFIC!

you are literally a perfect example of why we are stuck with all this trash because you refuse to accept the truth, and the facts, simply because they do not comport with your world view. We will not apologize for something we had nothing to do with, and we will not have your parties wretched, racist history thrown on us.

1
princessalala [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

No, I’m not saying they have to apologize, but living in a fairy tale land where not all blacks believe republicans=raycis and democrats=not raycis is also not the answer. It’s as bad as apologizing for something that isn’t true. I never said apologize, I’m tired but I believe I said to address the issue.

republicans need to specifically address their past racism

What past racism?

The GOP was the party that opposed slavery, supported integrating the army, and supported integrating schools. It wasn't Kennedy and Johnson that integrated schools, it was Eisenhower.

Like, all the leftist arguments that the Republicans are racist basically boil down to the fact that Nixon didn't seriously try to distance himself from Barry Goldwater, and didn't tell Strom Thurmond to go fuck himself.

And why? Because he was kinda busy trying to salvage an asian war he inherited from the Democrats.

princessalala [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

If you see my response to the other person who made this point that was enough. They need to have been making your point since Nixon, but they are silent and allow themselves to be called racist at best. Like I said, what you say may be true but it’s not what most people believe we or know. They need to address it. For example I love Trump, but sometimes I wonder why he just didn’t like get a photo of him at rainbow push collation meetings arm in arm with Jesse Jackson and or say “hey I was the biggest donor to Jackson’s campaign, you guys are crazy to say I’m racist.” Or something to that effect. Basically say all thee weed things I say when defending him. I understand the arguments why not to do this, but Trump is known got his bluntness, I wish he just said something direct about it.

2
Piroko 2 points ago +2 / -0

sometimes I wonder why he just didn’t like get a photo of him at rainbow push collation meetings arm in arm with Jesse Jackson

Why?

BECAUSE IT'S DIMWITTED BULLSHIT.

That which is asserted without evidence can be ignored without comment.

You do not dignify bullshit accusations by responding to them. The mere fact that you're responding means you're already on the back foot, playing defense. You ignore the loud morons and do your thing, because you're not going to persuade them.

The only PROBLEM the GOP has is that its actions since Reagan have not spoken very loudly. It was a mistake to elevate the Bush family. It was a mistake to make Jack Kemp the architect of twenty years of GOP policy. It was a mistake to go after Clinton for being a sex hound. It was a mistake to start two fucking ground wars in countries we've been bombing for decades to no effect.

In a universe where the GOP had listened to the message Ross Perot and Pat Buchannan were pitching, we wouldn't be in this mess today.

Imagine a world where the GOP had run Colin Powell in 1996. Would he have lost? Yeah, nobody was going to beat Clinton in 1996. But imagine how much different that world would have been.

I just dont think it is as simple as you guys are making it out to be. Granted this is wikipedia, but there are quite a few things in here where republicans aligned themselves with racial politics. I want to know when and why blacks started voting democrat. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_strategy#:~:text=In%20American%20politics%2C%20the%20Southern,to%20racism%20against%20African%20Americans.

I said two posts ago:

the leftist arguments that the Republicans are racist basically boil down to the fact that Nixon didn't seriously try to distance himself from Barry Goldwater, and didn't tell Strom Thurmond to go fuck himself.

The 1964 election was basically a contest between two overt racists, and it's just that one was more clever (Lyndon B).

Rockefeller was right that Goldwater would ruin the Republican party, but the problem was he was the wrong voice to say it, being too much of a progressive.

princessalala [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

“ That which is asserted without evidence can be ignored without comment”

Yeah and how did that work out for him?

I understand what you are saying, but Trump never shied away from other dim witted bullshit. I get what you and the other poster are saying (I love your comment about Colin Powell) but how much longer are you both going to go, how much more are you willing to lose instead of freaking just addressing the race thing head on? Not apologize, not lie, but take away the dems BS narrative.

3
Piroko 3 points ago +3 / -0

It can't be addressed head on because it's ultimately not about race to the SJWs. They're just trying to use race as a stand-in for their Marxist class war.
