Anyone have the episode that they watched Dhar Mann for the first time?

I've been trying to remember this band for three days, you all are my last resort...google isn't helping.

I can't remember if this was an opening song to an episode, but I'm certain they talked about the band on a show and played some of the hits.

It's sort of an alt rock band, although the music didn't seem to have a definite genre. The band has three members. Lead singer is black (I believe he does some rapping), the "artistic genius" of the group is a white guy who I believe does the mixing and produces most of the music. I believe the band was sort of his brainchild. Third guy is another white guy. They are sort of "reclusive", in that they don't do interviews or talk to the media. Especially the lead singer.

The music seems sort of "intellectual"; it doesn't have the typical rap/rock themes. I remember that the lyrics are very hard to follow and at first don't seem to make sense at all. I feel like it was somewhat political, almost a bit right-leaning, but the group refuses to talk.

This may be misleading, but I vaguely remember them being from Oakland, although I'm not positive.

Any ideas? I know with this little information it would have to be a band you actively know and listen to, but thought I'd try.

I'm apparently out of the loop and missed the announcement or something. I know Gavin was talking about "banked shows" over Christmas, but it's been 10 days. Maybe it'll show up tonight, but did he give us any timeline on the regular schedule returning? I don't have socials...maybe he said it on Parler or something. Also, I assume they are moving into the new studio, which is why they've taken almost two weeks off? Back in Novemberish I remember him saying they'd be moving into the new studio the first of the year. Didn't hear much more than that but...I hope it's true.

The search capabilities with the app are very poor, and for the life of me I can’t find the episode. For a while they were calling it “movie night”, I think? Most are in the “Censored.TV Presents” section, like E.T. and Animal House. I seem to remember The Hunt was either a live ep or in GOML, but search yields nothing. Probably wasn’t in the title or description, so it’s not coming up.

Help.

I was listening to some older podcasts from late 2019 to early 2020, and heard mention of a single frame of Gavin in a gorilla/monkey suit. I typically only listen, and rarely watch the show, so I never saw it. Anyone have a screenshot of it? Does he still do it? Hilarious how he acted like the question was never asked...

I've grown so weary of the perpetual commentary on the insanity of the left, especially just watching videos of unintelligent left-wing people saying and doing ignorant things and broadcasting them on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and so forth. It's just so depressing, and gives me a helpless feeling seeing the lunacy in our country.

Every. Single. Fucking. Show.

I wish Gavin would scale back from the hyper-specific culture war stuff. I'm tired of hearing fat, ugly bisexuals say idiotic things on Twitter, or ghetto people doing ghetto things. These people are subhuman, intellectually speaking.

I want to hear Gav tell stories, talk about creating Vice, give his advice on entrepreneurship or marriage/dating. I want to hear him talk about music, art, films, books, fashion, and so on.

I’ve long thought Gav focuses too much on politics and too little on his Vice years. He’s a bit underrated for his grit regarding his business ventures. This was one of my favorite episodes.

This has always been a bit of a cultural stumbling block, it never ceases to amaze me. I'll try to keep this short and simple, in hopes that the caller sees this.

Since the Neolithic Revolution, our species has largely been a detriment to ecosystems around the world. In the last two centuries, this is especially so. Cities, highways, rail systems, everything humans have built within the natural environment that is comprised of synthesized materials not found naturally occurring in nature. These structures have atomized ecosystems and effectively disrupted most of the habitat/range of native species. In this way, we've taken on a sort of "meta-domestication" in most continents; wild animals are a few degrees less wild in the sense that they are continually in contact with human beings (either humans themselves, or the things they've built). Therefore, as paradoxical as it may sound, it became necessary for humans to enter into a "conservation model" of managing the ecosystems. If these programs did not exist, there would essentially be no wild animals. Plain and simple.

In comes trophy hunting. This mainly takes place in Africa, but exists in varying degrees throughout the globe. In Tanzania, for example, it's very common and is a driving force in their economy. At the same time, Africa is a fairly poorly-managed country, and funding is scarce. These animals are in desperate need of conservation programs in order to maintain the borders of their "pseudo-ecosystem", effectively one giant pasture surrounded by natural and man-made borders. They require a large and organized department of game wardens and wildlife biologists, to monitor populations, food sources, etc.. The funding for this comes exclusively from so-called "trophy hunting", and nowhere else.

As cliche and paradoxical as it may seem, these herds do in fact need their population managed. While the overall numbers may be low for, say, the continent of Africa, the herd health is largely driven by population density, not total numbers. Therefore, it is necessary for some of the animals to be removed from the herd. Simultaneously, due to the human-animal complex, it is necessary for the predator numbers to be lower, as well. This is an unfortunate circumstance, and is the fault of humans as a species, but it exists nonetheless.

So, they have a system set up wherein a select few older, non-breeding males are hunted for an outrageous price. I promise you these animals would be removed regardless, either by poachers or game wardens. So, they charge a high price for a tag to hunt these animals, therefore creating a giant funding source in order to pay for fencing, game wardens, anti-poaching departments, wildlife biologists, research, and all other materials and personnel required to maintain this ecosystem. People don't understand that these animals would be removed either way. Get that into your head. As Ted said, the Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race. In other words, humans, like beavers on steroids, have disrupted the entire collective of ecosystems to a degree beyond anything we've seen, and it's necessary to manage and conserve these ecosystems.
